Founded in 1984, Boulevard magazine celebrates 100 issues and thirty five years of continuously publishing the finest in contemporary voices in fiction, poetry, and definitive essays on the arts and culture. Featuring writers from across our thirty five years, this reading reflects Boulevard’s mission to present a variegated yet coherent ensemble of creative and critical writing by both emerging and established writers.


Participants

Moderator:

Jessica Rogen has been the editor in chief of Boulevard magazine since spring 2016. Previously, she was managing editor of Boulevard for five years and an editorial assistant at River Styx magazine.

Shara McCallum is the author of five books of poetry, including her most recent collection, Madwoman. Recognition for her work includes an NEA for poetry and Witter Bynner Fellowship. McCallum was Director of the Stadler Center for Poetry for fourteen years and now teaches at Penn State University.

Weike Wang is the author of the novel Chemistry. Wang won the 2018 PEN/Hemingway, and is a 5 under 35 National Book Foundation honoree and a Whiting winner.

Meron Hadero's stories appear in Best American Short Stories, Boulevard, McSweeney's, Missouri Review, etc. Her essays are in The Displaced: Refugee Writers on Refugee Lives and The New York Times Book Review. She's been a fellow at Yaddo and MacDowell and has an MFA from the University of Michigan.

Karthik Purushothaman is finishing a collection called Legal Alien. He has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best New Poets anthologies, and has had work appear in Boulevard, Rattle, The Common, The Margins, EVENT, and elsewhere.
