This is an unprecedented time for vital, new voices in poetry. Come and experience this vibrancy and excitement, as four award-winning poets read from their recently published first books from Graywolf Press, a publisher committed to supporting poets and writers across their careers. Introduced by Graywolf executive editor Jeff Shotts.

Moderator:

Jeff Shotts is Executive Editor at Graywolf Press, where he acquires and edits poetry, creative nonfiction, literary criticism, and translation.

Donika Kelly’s debut collection, Bestiary, was selected by Nikky Finney for the 2015 Cave Canem Poetry Prize, and longlisted for the National Book Award. She is an assistant professor at St. Bonaventure University.

Erika Sanchez is a poet, novelist, and essayist. She is the author of Lessons on Expulsion and I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter. She is a 2017–2019 Princeton Arts Fellow.

Mai Der Vang is the author of Afterland, which received the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets. Her work has appeared in Poetry, Virginia Quarterly Review, Southern Humanities Review, The New York Times, and elsewhere.

Jenny Xie is the author of Eye Level, winner of the 2017 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, and Nowhere to Arrive, winner of the Drinking Gourd Chapbook Prize. She teaches at New York University.
