What you should know before reserving your room

• Book early. Conference hotels usually sell out rooms several months in advance of our conference. 
• All reservations must be guaranteed with a one-night deposit (applicable toward your hotel bill and a valid credit card). 
• Please be considerate of other conference attendees by reserving only the rooms you need for your confirmed attendees. 
• Please be mindful of each hotel’s deadlines for reserving rooms at AWP’s discounted rates. After these respective dates, discounted rates will no longer be available to attendees. 
• For reservations, contact the hotel directly. AWP does not endorse or use a third-party housing service to help with the reservation and/or sale of hotel rooms during our conference. Attendees who use a third-party housing service to secure lodging at one of our contracted hotels may be engaging in illegal activity. 
• If you cancel your reservation fewer than 30 days in advance of your arrival, the hotel will apply a cancellation fee to your reservation equal to one night’s room and tax. If you check out prior to your reserved checkout date, the hotel may apply an early departure fee. 
• If you experience issues with website reservations, we recommend you call the hotel reservation department directly at the number listed below. Allocations of certain bed types may run out through the website as the hotel’s rooms are booked.

San Antonio Public Transportation

VIA Bus Routes

Taking fixed route buses will be the easiest and most affordable method of getting around San Antonio while attending the conference. Bus and streetcar routes are $1.10 per ride, and express bus service is $2.50. You can also purchase a VIA day pass that lets you ride all day for just $2.75. There are 100 different routes traversing the city with over 400 buses operating from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. For more information about routes, rates, and stops, visit VIA’s How to Ride webpage, Accessible Transit Service Guide, and Riding the Bus Using a Wheelchair.

In addition to bus service, VIA also provides VIVA routes, designed to travel through particular San Antonio sites, including VIVA Culture, VIVA Missions, and VIVA Centro. For more information about these routes, visit the VIVA webpage.

VIAtrans Paratransit Service

VIAtrans trips must be scheduled one day in advance and VIAtrans customers must be preapproved or service. Paratransit service is available to persons with a physical, intellectual, or visual impairment of such severity as to prevent independent travel on city buses.
