Record-Breaking Conference & Bookfair in Washington, DC:
In spite of a brutal snowstorm that swept through the Midwest and Northeast, many of AWP's members rescheduled their flights and trains to work around the weather and make their way to the AWP Annual Conference & Bookfair. 9,418 people attended the conference, which was held in Washington, DC this past February. The total includes 2,653 students, many of whom enjoyed free registration through the sponsorship of our member writing programs. It was AWP's best-attended conference to date. The conference featured 388 panel discussions and readings and 1,548 presenters. AWP thanks all of our presenters, sponsors, and partners for helping to make the conference a success. The writer's place is in the public arena, and AWP has built a bigger town square.
