Conference Survey Results

The 2007 Conference and Bookfair brought together 5,200 students, writers, educators, publishers, agents, and editors under one roof, making AWP’s Conference one of the largest annual literary gatherings in North America.
More than 50 university writing programs, literary organizations, and small presses partnered with AWP to sponsor our Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
With more than 300 literary events––including lectures and readings by Lee Smith, John Barth, Marilyn Hacker, Terrance Hayes, Charles Wright, Ann Beattie, Kaye Gibbons, Tayari Jones, Coleman Barks, C.D. Wright, Cornelius Eady, and dozens of other prominent figures in modern literature––AWP’s Atlanta Conference proved an integral component of our national literary conversation.
More than 400 literary presses and magazines participated in our annual Bookfair. Student involvement in the annual conference continues to grow. Thanks to our sponsors in 2007, more than 1,000 students had their registration fees waived or reduced.
The satisfaction rate among survey respondents was 99%, with 84% responding that the conference was “Very Good” to “Excellent.” Attendees ranked the Bookfair, network of peers, panel discussions and readings as their favorite components of the conference.
